The wilderness enriched coastal location of Hopetoun is
located in the Shire of Ravensthorpe -
Lat: 33° 94' S and Long: 120° 11' E.
Hopetoun’s annual rainfall is around 500 millimetres (20 inches) and average temperatures are between 15°C and 28°C in Summer, 8°C and 18°C in Winter.
The growing local economy is based on primary production – wheat, oats, barley, lupins, canola, field peas, beans, wool, cattle, sheep, prime lamb – and the mining of nickel concentrate, gypsum, cobalt (byproduct) and copper (byproduct). Other industries include honey, goats, fish, aquaculture (yabbies), wildflowers and tourism.
